VT Camino Study Abroad

October 10 - November 18, 2016

This project was done in partnership with the Spanish department at VT. They run a 5-week trip where students walk 300km (186 miles) on a medieval pilgrimage route then spend a few more weeks living in Spain. It is a cool program and the installation has a couple elements I'm really pleased with.

This installation was done with a graduate course in Science, Technology, and Science (STS). In the course students were challenged to envision Virginia Tech in 2047. This was in response to a new initiative by the president of Virginia Tech called Beyond Boundaries. Students challenged the notions of what the administration was putting forward and developed three small installations exploring different themes.

Painting for Non-Majors is a course offered to all students at Virginia Tech. It is a special case because traditionally all studio art classes at Virginia Tech are restricted to art majors only. These paintings were from the first Painting for Non-Majors course.
