Innovation In & Out of the Classroom
March 25 - April 18, 2016

The three courses featured in this exhibit were The Origins of Innovation, CREATE!, and Startup: Managing Technology Commercialization.

Origins is an overview of innovation and challenges students to reconsider what an innovator is.

CREATE! focuses more on design processes and how they work with the area we call innovation.

Startup considers innovation from a commercial standpoint. One major theme of this class is learning how to distinguish an idea from an opportunity.

Like all my installations this one featured opportunities for vistors to interact. It asked them to consider non-traditional innovators, evaluate ideas vs. opportunities, and walked them through a design critique process.

I built this long curved wall specifically for this exhibit. It was 24ft long and required far more work than I imagined when I pitched it. But it turned out nice and I learned how to build a curved wall. Not sure I'll do it again, but if I did I've got some ideas for improvement.
